Hydrogen technologies

AYED-ENGINEERING GmbH recognizes significant potential in developing hydrogen infrastructure to help Europe achieve carbon neutrality. Leveraging our strong engineering expertise in energy generation and conversion, we see an opportunity to bring our own products to the market, enabling us to address the challenges of climate neutrality.

A large portion of Europe's energy is currently generated through the combustion of natural gas, diesel, and kerosene. Notably, the provision of process heat in industrial facilities—such as those in the steel, glass, and food industries—cannot be replaced by electrical alternatives like heat pumps. As a result, combustion-based heat generation will remain a crucial component of the industrial sector. We therefore identify potential in equipping existing facilities with burner technologies capable of supporting the transition phase from fossil fuels to hydrogen.

In collaboration with Sustainable Business & Engineering Solutions GmbH, we aim to mature a fuel-flexible hydrogen burner for market readiness and offer it as a retrofit technology. Thanks to its scalability, rapid design processes, and additive manufacturing (3D printing), we can equip facilities of any size quickly and with minimal invasiveness. This clears the way for cost-effective retrofitting.

3D-printed Hydrogen combustor test project

In May 2022, we completed the first test of the 3D-printed combustor. The test was a complete success, and the results showed that the burner can operate stably and without faults when using 100% hydrogen and 100% natural gas as fuels respectively. This technology can achieve a hot gas stream temperature of up to 2000 Kelvin (approximately 1727°C), so it has a wide range of applications, covering fields such as industrial equipment, stationary gas turbines, and aero-engines.
